The truck rumbled along the poorly paved country road. It was so loud, with the windows rolled down, that Tyudeongi could barely hear the song playing on the radio. Not that the reception was very good out here. In fact, the reception was getting increasingly worse the longer they drove.
By now, the song playing was all but static creeping around the edges of a familiar melody.
He stole a glance at the navigation system's screen. It showed a long road amidst abstract blocks of green that were supposed to symbolise farmland. The timer at the bottom read "10 minutes". No upcoming turns, just this one, long road and the neverending golden wheat glowing in the last hours of daylight.
"10 minutes away and I can't see anything but wheat. Are you sure there's a cabin there?"
The one asking was Tyudeongi's yellow feathered childhood friend, who sat in the passenger seat. Bbyongming had been soundly asleep for the majority of the ride but the moment he had woken up he'd started airing his impatience.
"Well, the website said so," Tyudeongi answered. He sounded a little defensive, but who could blame him? He'd wanted for this to be the perfect little getaway, far away from the every day hustle and bustle of their job at the pupchick book shop.
It was admittedly a little stressful how dodgy the whole thing was turning out to be.
The sun was setting slowly but surely and if there was no cabin then... well they could always sleep in the back of the truck. There were pillows, a thin blanket and enough food in their bag to last them a week.
Tyudeongi focused on the endless road until the scenery finally changed. The wheat fields opened up to a clearing, and in its centre there was a western style, wooden cabin.
*Finally!*
[[Park the car ->001]]He slowly drove the pick-up truck off the road and onto the gravel filled yard of the property. It was a cute log cabin. Bigger than he thought it would be, and in good shape all things considered.
"Oh wow it's big!" Bbyongming noted, voice full of excitement, his eyes sparkling. Tyudeongi suppressed a laugh, thinking to himself *'that's what she said'*.
"It is." Instead he agreed with a smile. Bbyongming was just so cute when he got excited, he didn't want to ruin that with a lame joke.
"Let's go check it out!" Bbyongming directed his sparkly eyes at Tyudeongi who felt his heart squeeze at the sight. *Oh, so cute.*
He pulled the truck's handbrake and hopped out of the vehicle before he responded,

"Alright, alright." Bbyongming agreed although his impatience was palpable.
Together the friends climbed into the back of the truck to grab their large bag and even the pillows and blanket.
Lifting up the blanket Tyudeongi spotted the little emergency repair kit and for a moment he contemplated taking it inside too but then decided against it. Nobody would come to steal it from the truck out here.
"Anything else?" Bbyongming looked like he was thinking hard. Tyudeongi let him think for a bit, just watching him and wondering if he would come up with anything. When half a minute had passed however, he finally decided to intervene.

His steps took him to Bbyongming's side, the cabin key firmly in his paw, feeling anxious that it wouldn't fit. After all, when he booked the remote cabin for a little vacation he didn't exepect that he would be fetching the door key from some random combination locker at a train station.
No matter how Tyudeongi tried to convince himself that there was nothing fishy about this whole deal, he couldn't help the racing of his heart as he put the key into the lock and turned it.
***Click.***
The door swung open without as much as a creak.
[[What a relief ->002]]"I'm sure that's it, but I'll double check," Tyudeongi said and dropped the bag to the ground before pulling open the door to the driver's cabin again. One quick look into the glove box proved him wrong—he did *not*, in fact, have everything.
There, amongst CDs, papers and maps that no one had ever opened, was a small silver object. Tyudeongi was not the type to smoke but the Zippo lighter he'd received from a hyung ages ago was still always useful to have.
Especially in an old house like this.
One more look around the cabin showed only some bottles of water and a safety vest underneath the passenger seat.

(set: $LigtherUses to 0)"I'm sure that's it, but double check if you want," he said while shouldering the heavy bag. Bbyongming diligently climbed back into the driver's cabin of the truck to check the glovebox.
"Oh your lighter might come in handy," he announced after a while of rummaging. He shoved the little, silver Zippo lighter into his pocket before slamming the door shut again, "Alright, *now* we have everything. Let's go, let's go!" The prior excitement had returned to Ming's expression.
[[Smile and follow him to the door ->001b]]
(set: $minglighter to 1)The inside of the cabin was surprisingly normal. Just as advertised on the website, really. Cosy even. Log walls, log floors, rustic furniture and old but well kept carpets. A quick paw at the light switch at the entrance showed him that even the electricity seemed stable.
"It's so nice," Bbyongming noted and immediately started opening every door in his path. He nipped in and out of the kitchen, bathroom, utility room and the bedroom until he finally opened the last door.
That last door, at the very end of the hall, led to a dark staircase down into, presumably, the basement. Bbyongming closed it as quickly as he could. He had always been afraid of ghosts and demons. Dark basements were certainly not the kind of place he'd want to explore willingly.
Tyudeongi made a mental note to check what was down there later, if only to then be able to reassure Ming that there were no hidden monsters lurking at the foot of the stairs. For now he placed both the car and cabin keys on a sideboard by the entrance and properly stepped into the cabin.
Let the vacation begin!

(set: $lightfire to 0)*'Best to do things in order'*, Tyudeongi thought to himself as he opened the door to the bedroom. After all, they would spend a whole week here. There was no point in rushing to explore right away.
The bedroom was small and cosy, housing two single beds, a built-in wardrobe and a little dresser. There was also an old, wooden cross on the wall above the dresser.
The fading, golden sunlight fell through a little window by one of the beds, illuminating rustic, plaid bedding and a wealth of dust particles floating in the air.
After a whole day of driving the view was so warm and inviting that Tyudeongi felt sleepy immediately. But first things first;
He hefted the bag onto the dresser's wooden top and opened it. He took his time unpacking it. Sorting everything away where it belonged in the bedroom. His next stops were the bathroom and the kitchen.
Toiletries in one paw and the bag with food in the other he left the bedroom.

[[Time to explore the rest of the cabin ->003TheLounge]]
When he entered the bathroom, Bbyongming had his head stuck into the bathtub-turned-shower inspecting the water pressure with a critical look in his eyes.
"This is like rain," he grumbled as Tyudeongi dropped the toiletries and a first aid kit onto the narrow counter next to the sink.
"I thought ducks like rain."
"I'm a chicken though?"
"Yeah, I saw that when you opened the basement door," Tyudeongi countered with a grin.
"Hey!" Ming feigned offence for a moment before he switched the water off.
"Do you have the wifi password? There is no signal out here. I tried to message Byeoli-hyung but my messages aren't going through," he asked.
"Yep, it's on the booking confirmation. I left the letter on the dresser in the bedroom."
"Cool." And with that Ming left the bathroom on his newfound quest for a working internet connection. Tyudeongi made sure that the toiletries were put out neatly. A cup with two toothbrushes, one blue, one yellow. Toothpaste. A fur brush and a spray that Ming used for his feathers, Tyudeongi had no idea what it was for exactly.
[[Time to put the food away and explore the cabin! ->002B]] The kitchen was small, but it still had everything they could possibly need, even a little microwave sitting on top of the fridge.
Tyudeongi sorted their shelf safe food into the cupboard under the sink and the rest into the fridge. He paused at the packages of instant noodles and contemplated cooking some and calling it a night but there was still more to explore.
[[Cook some ramyeon and call it a day ->003Foodcoma]]
[[Continue exploring ->003TheLounge]]"Ming are you hungry?" He called out from the kitchen while staring down a couple packs of ramyeon from the cupboard.
"Ramyeon please!" Came the immediate answer from the bedroom. Tyudeongi nodded to himself and grabbed the single pot the little kitchen provided to fill it with water.
Soon enough the pot was bubbling with the delightful, savoury scent of ramyeon.
Ming was already outside on the little wooden deck to set the table with bowls, cutlery and drinks. All that was missing was the pot of noodles and broth. Tyudeongi switched the stove off and grabbed the pot by both handles to carry it outside.
"Now this is romantic," Ming noted with a pleased smile and Tyudeongi could only agree. A meal in the warm evening breeze. No noise from cars, stores or people anywhere within earshot, the endless golden sea of wheat and a pot of instant ramyeon. It couldn't possibly get any better than this.
The two of them ate happily and talked about this and that, and when they were done both of them were too tired to move around much more.
"Let's go inside. We can do the dishes tomorrow."
"Alright."
[[Head inside ->003Foodcoma2]]Tyudeongi made his way into the lounge which was arguably the biggest room of the cabin as far as he could tell. The room had a large ceiling fan with a single, dim light in its centre. Switching it on, while the last rays of sunlight were already illuminating the room through its singular small window, hardly made any difference.
The shadows in the room were deep regardless of whether the lamp was on or not, so Tyudeongi decided to switch it off again and explore the space with what sunlight he had available.
There was a lot to look at but he just couldn't stop yawning. It had been an eight hour drive after all. Maybe sitting down on the comfy looking couch wasn't a bad idea.

The fireplace was old but clearly still in use. It was rare to find a house in Korea that was not only built in a western style but that also had a fully functional fireplace. Most of the western houses he'd seen had fire places that were just for show.
This one however evidently had been used not too long ago judging by the ashes and charred wood inside. He felt a sudden overwhelming urge to start a fire even though it wasn't particularly cold in the cabin.
Re-envigorated he scooped the excess ashes into the metal dustpan hung up along with some other tools at the fireplace's side. As he was scooping he noticed something pink inside the ashes.
He knelt down to pull the little, pink box out of the dirt and dusted it off with one paw. At first he thought it was a little pack of kiddie bandaids but the words "Temp Tattoo" proved him wrong. Why would somebody throw those into the fire? Thankfully only the edge of the pack was singed so he shoved it into his pocket and hoped he'd remember to show it to Ming later.

Maybe Ming was on the veranda watching stars?

Away.
Away from the shrieking creature and the sound of splintering wood as it broke out through the cabin's front door. While Bbyongming was laser focused on the road Tyudeongi couldn't help but look into the back mirror. It was little more than a massive black shape against the backdrop of fire, squirming in pain. "I'm gonna... leave such a bad review." Bbyongming sounded utterly exhausted next to him and Tyudeongi finally slowed the car a little.
"Yeah..."
"Do we... call the police?"
"And tell them what?" Tyudeongi finally had to slow to a stop as they reached the first traffic light of a town. The lights here were bright. Stores left and right of the road. People doing late night shopping or drinking. Hundreds of cars. Were they... safe here?
"Tell them there's a crazy killer at that cabin..."
"They'll just think we're crazy."

(if: $luggageGot is 0)[[Continue ->ENDING 4b]]Tyudeongi stumbled across the log floor and rugs that had seemed so inviting to him just hours ago. Now they were soaked in blood and nothing about them was cosy anymore.
"MING! NO!" He crashed to his knees just next to the bloodied lump of yellow feathers on the carpet. Without hesitation he turned his motionless friend around, hoping to see a sign of life. A breath. Anything.
But what he found was only death.
Bbyongming was unrecognizable. Smeared in his own blood from his face to his chest. And where his heart and where his heart should be there was a gaping hole instead. Tyudeongi felt nauseous. His world was spinning out of control.
*'This is all my fault'* he thought. He'd done this.
(text-style:"italic","blur","fidget")["What a shame..."]
Tyudeongi's head shot up and blurred through tears he saw the creature in the cabin's doorway. Long, gangly limbs with its paws dragging over the ground as it ducked under the doorframe. Tall triangular ears on its head and eyes reflecting even the smallest bit of light, like a deep sea animal.
Tyudeongi forgot how to breathe.
(text-style:"italic","blur","fidget")["I thought you would be more fun to hunt. Are you giving up already?"] The creature asked in a multitude of voices until Tyudeongi's ears were ringing.

(set: $PhoneBattery to $PhoneBattery-1)Tyudeongi peeked around the western side of the cabin. Facing away from the moon, this side of the cabin was cast in shadow so deep that Tyudeongi had to squint to make out any details. The only thing that clearly stood out to him was a small shed off the side of the house.
He couldn't think of any reason why Bbyongming would check out the shed in the middle of the night, but considering he was nowhere else to be found he approached it anyway.
It had a single window facing away from the moon and a door.

The only thing that stood out to him was a raised hatch at the side of the cabin. Not something commonly seen in Korean houses but this cabin was clearly modelled in an American style.
Tyudeongi wagered an educated guess that the hatch would lead to a ladder or a small staircase into the cabin's basement.
As he approached it he noticed a wooden plank shoved through the rectangular handles of the hatch, blocking it from the outside. *'What a useless lock. That's not keeping anybody out...'* he thought to himself.

(set: $PhoneBattery to $PhoneBattery-1)The fields stood tall and still in the faint moonlight. The plants overtowered Tyudeongi by nearly two heads but there was something akin to an old path leading into the darkness.
The stalks of wheat curved in on it creating a kind of tunnel that allowed for barely any light to pass through it. Now, Tyudeongi wasn't afraid of the dark, nor was he afraid of many things at all, but even he knew better than to charge into the darkness unprepared.

He was still fairly sure Bbyongming couldn't possibly be in the basement unless he had suddenly started sleep walking but at this point he might as well check everywhere.
The hatch opened with a creak, rusty hinges rebelling against the sudden friction. Tyudeongi wasn't sure why but the noise made him cringe, like he was supposed to stay quiet, like the noise would disturb something. He wasn't usually one to get scared of the dark but maybe the unfamiliar place and the fact that his only companion had vanished into thin air were doing a number on him after all.
The narrow steps behind the hatch doors descended into the pitch black. Even though he was reasonably sure it was the basement he felt his stomach tighten at the sight. He quickly fumbled with his phone and turned on the flash light to dispell the darkness.
He hesitated. His legs didn't want to move even now that he could see further into the basement.
"Ming?" He called out, although it was more of a whisper than a shout this time.
"Ming are you in there?"
There was no response

No matter how he thought about it, locking the basement hatch with a plank from the outside made no sense. Especially not while there was a perfectly good steel pipe right there.
Tyudeongi pulled the hatch shut and put the pipe in place. At least this way nobody was going to be able to break in. Happy with the slight increase in cabin security, he climbed the stairs up to the regular basement door and left through the house.
He spared another glance to the bedroom on the way out but Bbyongming remained gone.

(set: $BUnlocked to 0)Tyudeongi decided that, for whatever reason the hatch was 'locked' from the outside with some piece of wood there was probably logic to it. He was only a guest here. It made sense to put things back to how they were when he found them.
Without thinking too deeply about it he scaled the steps through the hatch and put the plank back in its place.
Useless, but who was going to break in out here anyway.

Tyudeongi climbed into the truck bed to grab the little tool kit. Most of the stuff inside was of no use outside of a car-related incident. But luckily there were a couple of wrenches in there that were sure to make short work of a flimsy little padlock.
With the wrenches firmly in his paw he hopped back to the ground.

Still, luck was always on Tyudeongi's side and so, as he climbed into the truck bed, almost ready to give up, he found a little tool box he'd completely forgotten about. It was an emergency tool kit in case the old pick up truck broke down on the road. It contained everything from a car jack and a wheel nut key to a warning triangle and wrenches in various sizes.
He grabbed two of the smaller wrenches. No doubt these would do the trick on a flimsy little padlock.

Unfortunately the fire did little to illuminate the inside of the shed. Instead it lit up his face so all he could see was a reflection of himself and the lighter's flame. That... and two red circles in the darkness behind him. The moment he noticed them they vanished out of view and Tyudeong spun around, heart beating in his throat.

(text-style:"italic","fidget")["What's wrong Tyu?"]
"You're not Bbyongming..." Tyudeongi whispered and 'Bbyongming's' smile grew wider. Rows and rows of uneven sharp teeth flashed at him.

[[Continue ->PathA2]]Tyudeongi ran as fast as his paws would carry him to the basement hatch which he had left locked from the outside. At the time he'd had some doubts in that decision, shrugging it off as 'gotta put things back to how they were, it's not our house'. Now, however, he was glad he'd made that decision.
The gravel was so noisy he half expected to be snatched up mid-run but somehow he made it all the way to the hatch and inside. The second he was in the basement he backed off from the hatch like it was going to get torn open any second.
The lights were still on down here at least.

(set: $Rami to 0)Tyudeongi sprinted across the gravel yard, past the cabin and towards the rickety little tool shed. The door was as he had left it, closed but unlocked. He pulled it open with ease and slipped inside.
He carefully pulled the door shut, although he had no way to lock it. Better closed than open.
Tyudeongi turned around to look at the inside of the shed.
It was dark.
"T... Tyu? Is that you?"
Tyudeongi's heart fell at once. Before him on the ground he could make out the vague shape of someone else.
"Ming?!" He whispered and let himself fall to the ground.
"You're... you're the real Tyu, right? Uhm... tell me something only the real Tyudeongi would know." Bbyongming was backing up from him, clutching an old axe.

(set: $Rami to 0)The car wasn't the safest of all hiding spaces, given the small size of the driver cabin and the windows surrounding it, but it was also the least likely place for the creature to lay in waiting for him.
With quick steps, he made it to the truck. It was lucky that he had never bothered to lock it when they arrived because he most definitely didn't have the keys. He pushed back the driver's seat as far as it would go and hunkered down in the foot space.
For one moment he held his breath and listened for any noise outside. First, there was nothing more than the gentle rustling of the wheat. No steps. Nothing.
Then, without any forewarning, he heard the door to the Cabin slam shut. Was it the wind? Or had the creature entered the cabin?

(if: $SUnlocked is 0)[[Continue ->HideCar2]]Tyu ran for the cabin as fast as his paws would take him. The door stood wide open. He couldn't for the life of him remember if he'd closed it or if he had left it like this while searching for Bbyongming?
Either way the once inviting looking cabing now looked ominous.
Exposed.
[[Continue ->Cabin2]]There was silence again after this but he didn't dare to crane his neck to peek out of the truck's window. What if the creature was playing with him and was waiting patiently right outside the truck's door? No thanks.
Cautiously, so as to not make any noise he patted down his pockets for anything of use but before he found anything other than his phone the sound of creaking hinges had him freeze in place. Heart racing in his chest he listened.
He could hear steps on the gravel. They were nowhere near as heavy as the creature's steps.
"Tyu?" Bbyongming's voice sounded just outside between the truck and the cabin. He sounded terrified, voice small and shaky.
Tyudeongi acted on impulse when he got off the floor and called out for his friend in an urgent whisper.

(if: $PhoneBattery < 1)[["His phone was dead..." ->Keys2]]It was some animal rustling in the field behind him that finally unsettled him enough make his legs move.
The basement was dusty and full of junk. Boxes, old furniture, shelves filled with more boxes behind a curtain of a decade worth of cobwebs. In the centre of the room there stood an old generator that looked like it was about to crumble to rust at any second.
The only useful thing down here seemed to be the light switch at the other end of the room. At least that, Tyudeongi hoped, would dispell the festering anxiety in the pit of his stomach.
Only two steps into the room his attempts at being quiet were foiled by him stepping on something hard. "OW shi-" He cursed and pointed his flashlight at the offending object. It was a little compass. The kind that used to be popular as keychains. For a moment Tyudeongi contemplated kicking it into a corner in retaliation but then he leaned down to pick it up instead.
A compass could be useful if he had to search the fields later.
Without any further accidents he finally managed to switch on the basement's light which made the room look a lot less scary. Still, the cobwebs were unpleasant, but overall it was just a normal, slightly neglected basement.
No Bbyongming as far as the eye could see. He really wasn't sure what else he'd expected.
His eyes fell on the open hatch. There was a sturdy steel pipe leaned against the wall next to it that was probably meant for locking it from the inside. He could lock it from the inside and leave through the house, or leave through the hatch and put the plank back in place.

(set: $PhoneBattery to $PhoneBattery-1)Tyudeongi took a few steps into the darkness. The stalks of wheat curved in above his head shielding the path from even the faintest ray of moonlight. After he had taken his first turn he was stumbling around blindly, relying on his sense of smell and hearing only to find his path.
Sharp stones poked his paws and leaves kept brushing over his fur like a million little hands grabbing at him.
Now, Tyudeongi wasn't one to scare easily. He wasn't usually afraid of the dark, of being on his own or of strange noises. But something about these endless fields made his fur bristle and his his heart race.
By the time he realised there was an echo to his steps he was already hopelessly lost in the maze.
He stopped walking and listened but there was nothing besides the rustling of leaves. But sure enough, when he took another step he heard two steps at once.
[[Call out ->FieldDeath2]]
"Hello?" He called into the darkness. There was no echo to his voice.
He swallowed hard and took another step followed by the sound of two pairs of paws hitting the ground.
"Ming, this isn't funny. Please come out." His voice was smaller now. Not so sure anymore. Not so brave.
(text-style:"italic","fidget")["I'm having fun,"] The darkness responded to him. The voice wasn't Bbyongming's. It wasn't even just one voice. There were maybe five or six voices layered into each other, creating an oddly unsettling echo within themselves.
Tyudeongi turned on his heel and started running. Away from the direction of the voice. Even when he hit a dead end he kept running. Breaking into the wheat, leaving the path behind. He ran until the field's sharp stones caused his paws to bleed and his lungs were burning. That was when the field suddenly opened up before him and he found himself in an open field, Moonlight nearly blinding him after spending so long in complete darkness.
He tripped and barely managed to catch his fall before his face hit the ground.
[[Continue ->FieldDeath3]]In a panic he turned to look at the fields he'd just broken out of. For a moment the wheat stood still. But then... a shadow broke out of the stalks. Its shape was unlike anything Tyudeongi had ever seen. It was tall with long, gangly limbs and a pair of triangular ears on its head. He couldn't make out any more detail as the figure was still shrouded in darkness. That was until the moonlight reflected in its large, round eyes, staring him down.
(text-style:"italic","fidget")["Keep on running little one... I'm not tired of chasing you yet,"] the creature said and Tyudeongi could swear he heard a smirk in its voice.
"What do you want from me?! Did you take Bbyongming?!"
(text-style:"italic","fidget")["Don't worry... I will re-unite you in my stomach. NOW RUN!"] the beast's voices thundered across the clearing and Tyudeongi's blood ran cold. He got to his paws and ran. He ran and ran, but deep down he knew this was just a game to the monster.
A game he'd already lost.

Tyudeongi looked up at the old temple's steps. There from the ruins he could hear a shuffling noise.
"MING!" He took one step towards the edge of the stair but quickly froze in his step.
(text-style:"italic","fidget")["You found me, Tyu."] The words were spoken in Bbyongming's voice, without a single doubt. But the shape that emerged from the darkness was not that of his friend's. It was tall, gangly limbs dragging over the ground while it was ducked under the old doorframe. Two large, round eyes reflecting the pale moon and a pair of triangular ears sat atop its head.
Tyudeongi took a step back.

He'd been lured into the fields by a predator.
In a haste, Tyudeongi turned his lighter back on. The creature and squinted its eyes at the sudden light, small as it may be. The moment didn't last long and soon the large round eyes were open again, reflecting the flickering flame. It let itself fall onto its front legs and snarled, rows of unevenly sized canine fangs flashing at him.

Wooyonyang didn't pick the phone up on a good day. Definitely not him.
Sandeoki liked to go to bed early to rest her body from her rigorous gym routine, she would be fast asleep by now.
Jjongbear was a 50/50 chance. Either he was out with friends or he was asleep.
Ddeongbyeoli was the most likely to pick up his phone but he liked sleep far too much to be awake at this hour.
That left only Joongrami.
Rami was a workaholic, always up until deep into the night, working on fashion or music or world domination. He didn't always pick up his phone but it was their best shot.

"O... okay..." Ming agreed after hesitating for a long while. Tyudeongi could see the tears that had once again welled up in his eyes and wondered if this was the right thing to do. Before he could change his mind, however, Bbyongming had gathered his courage and left the truck.

Unfortunately he could will himself to put one paw before the other when he made it out of the truck. He felt exposed out here. Tyudeongi shoved his paw into his pocket to fish out the crumpled old map. He could hear the creature's steps behind him and prayed to God that it was taking its time to enjoy the thrill of the hunt.
With a shaking paw, he held up his lighter to try and make sense of the map. The temple was easy to find, from there he traced a path back to the cabin with surprising ease. Even though the paths were a maze, there weren't too many turns to take and hardly any dead ends.
West, North, West, South, West, North, North, West.
One quick look at the compass told him all he needed to know. And then he started running. Praying and hoping that he didn't get it wrong. That the map still held up to this day. God knew what would happen to him if he took the wrong turn.
There was no time to worry now.

That was when it struck him: Bbyongming snored.
Not just occasionally but non-stop. As soon as he was asleep he would snore. Sometimes it wasn't any louder than laboured breathing. But other times he sounded like a whole sawmill.

This was his Bbyongming.
He opened the door in a hurry and waited until Ming had climbed into the driver's cabin with him before he closed and locked it again. That was all he managed to do before he found himself in a crushing hug.
"I'm so scared!" Even though Ming was whispering Tyudeongi could tell that he was on the verge of tears.
"It's okay... we're going to be okay. Where *were* you?! I looked everywhere for you!" Tyu pushed his friend away just enough to get a good look at him.
He was full of dust and cobwebs and some of the feathers on his forehead were stained with a dark liquid. Tyudeongi's nose confirmed that it was blood.
"I... I don't know what happened I fell asleep... and then you were knocking on the window to wake me up. You told me to come out because the moon is so pretty. So I came out but you were gone. And then I got hit over the head and the next thing I know is that I woke up in that dusty old shed! And there were spiders everywhere and it was so dark!" "Yeah... they're in the cabin.

Tyudeongi felt his heart sink as he saw the injury. A big, bold cut with ruffled feathers. It looks convincing. Except he knew that, not even 20 minutes ago, he had put a temporary tattoo on Ming's wing, in this exact spot.
"Looks gnarly..." he whispered as his eyes darted back to the back mirror. That lump... he had a feeling he knew what it was. He just didn't want to acknowledge it. His brain was running in circles. What could he do.
(text-style:"italic","fidget")["I can smell it you know?"]
"S-smell what?" Tyudeongi didn't like where this was going. Instinctively he slowed the car down to a crawl.

[[Get out of there NOW! ->ENDING 3: Final]]
"Hey Ming...?"
(text-style:"italic","fidget")["Hm?"]
"Do you mind if I uh... sorry I'm kind of sick of the dark..." he stammered and before Bbyongming could react he reached up to turn the driver's cabin's internal light on. Next to him "Bbyongming" shrieked and covered his eyes.
[[Get out of there NOW! ->ENDING 3: Final]]Tyudeongi's heart nearly stopped. Without even a second of hesitation he tore the driver side door open and jumped out. The truck careened off into the fields and flipped on its roof violently.
Tyudeongi prayed that it would give him even a little bit of an advantage as he started running.
He felt hopeless with nowhere to go. Disoriented. Scared. What was even the point of running if Bbyongming was gone? His lungs hurt, fighting against the encroaching panic attack and all the oxygen that was rapidly passing through them.
He ran towards the only landmark he knew around here.
The cabin.
Even when his lungs and legs hurt so much that he felt like hurling he still kept running. Until he pushed open the cabin door and stumbled through the basement door. As he turned around to close and lock it he saw it.
Bbyongming's shape in the door against the night sky.
Tyudeongi slammed the door shut and locked it tightly. He made sure the basement's hatch to the outdoors was also locked tightly before he finally collapsed to the floor.

"Tyudeongi!"
"TYUDEONGI! Bbyongming! WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?!" Joongrami's voice rattled Tyudeongi awake. He hadn't even noticed when he'd passed out. He did notice that his head was hammering and his eyes hurt from crying. He was probably dusty and covered in cobwebs too.
"IS ANYONE HERE?!" Rami shouted once more. This time it sounded like he was right in front of the basement door.
Tyudeongi didn't have the strength to reply but he pulled himself to his paws, crawled up the stairs. His paw hovered over the lock but he hesitated.
"Rami?" he asked timidly.
"Oh my god are you in there? Are you both okay? Can you open the door? I can't see a lock on my side."
Tyudeongi felt the tears well up in his eyes again. They weren't both okay, no. So at this point, even if Rami wasn't real. Even if he was just a monster pretending to be his friend, what did it matter anymore?
And so he opened the lock.

[[View all possible endings ->Tutorial2]]The silence was insufferable. At least, he thought, he'd been right about Bbyongming's steps being quieter than his. He couldn't hear him walk at all. After minutes had passed he finally got too impatient and climbed out of the footspace of the driver's cabin onto the passenger seat.
He was met with Bbyongming's round face right outside the window and nearly jumped out of his own skin in shock.
"AH! SH- MING! You scared me!" He whispered angrily after the initial shout. No doubt the creature would have heard *that*.
(text-style:"fidget")["Let's leave."] Bbyongming said calmly. He raised his wing and dangled the keys in front of the window. Tyudeongi's eyes fell on the wing.
There was no tattoo.
His heart sank all the way into the pit of his stomach.
[[What have you done? ->Keys2b3]]Tyudeongi slowly opened the passenger side door and let the creature, pretending to be his friend, into the car.
"May I have the keys please?" He tried hard to keep his voice steady and the creature handed him the keys with a calm smile. The second he held the keys in his hand he bolted out of the car locked the doors with the electric lock button on the key fob.
"Bbyongming!" He shouted as he ran for the house. Ignoring the sound of shattering glass and bending metal behind his back.
The cabin's door stood wide open.

Ming held onto him as promised and followed with steps so quiet that Tyudeongi wished he was a bird as well. It must be nice, he thought, to have hollow bones.
Even though Tyudeongi wasn't a big dog he still felt awfully noisy in comparison.
Hand in hand, or rather wing in paw, they snuck up to the cabin door that was tightly shut. Tyudeongi was very aware of the chance that the creature would wait for him right behind the door and so he hesitated. Bbyongming seemed to have the same thought because he leaned to the side to look through the lounge window carefully.
(if: $lightfire is 1)(print: "The dull, orange glow of the fire's last embers illuminated his feathered face.") "I can't see any-..." his whisper was cut short by something heavy banging against the window which caused Bbyongming to cry out in shock and leap back from the glass.
Bbyongming's wing slipped out of Tyudeongi's paw just as the glass shattered and the creature's large body emerged from it like a shadow.
He didn't have time to react before Bbyongming was already spirited away into the night.

Bbyongming next to him let out a distressed whimper as they got a first real look at what was hunting them. It wasn't like anything Tyudeongi had ever seen. A werewolf from a bad horror movie, but with fox ears and a distorted, angry face. Its large, bulging eyes were tightly shut and it cowered before the headlights so Tyudeongi started driving backwards. Any kind of distance between them and the monster was better than none.
When he was too far away the monster finally escaped the dimming cone of light and scurried off into the fields.

The truck door falling into lock behind him felt like a taste of sanctuary.

No, first things first.
He carefully raised his head to peek out of the truck's door. Much to his relief he was *not* met with the ugly visage of that creature. Instead there was the empty gravel lot, dipped in moonlight.
The cabin stood quietly only a few steps from the car, its door was closed as expected.

(text-style:"fidget")["Okay..."] Bbyongming took the tattoos from his paw and shook the contents out of the box into his wing to squint at them in the dark.

(set: $MimicTat to 1)"No! No don't worry. Wait... you said it looked like me?"
(text-style:"fidget")["Yeah. Exactly like you."]
Tyudeongi felt a little nauseous at the thought of being hunted by a shapeshifting monster. They needed to escape but if they wanted to stay alive they also needed a way to recognize each other.
No matter how he racked his brain he couldn't think of anything smart. They really didn't have that much time to waste. Escaping this hell hole should be the priority.
"Let's get out of here."
Bbyongming took his paw instead of responding and Tyudeongi took the hint to grab the truck keys from the sideboard by the door, hoping and praying that they would make it to the truck without being found.
[[Continue ->CabinBase]]Wing in paw they stepped out of the cabin, truck keys firmly in hand. It was only a few steps and the gravel path before them was clear. Still, Tyudeongi couldn't help the racing of his heart worsening with every step.
Needless to say he nearly got a heart attack when there was suddenly a loud banging noise.
Both him and Bbyeongmig turned around, startled. (if: $SUnlocked is 0)(print: "Something heavy was beating up against wood. Then there was the sound of violent splinters and finally steps. Rushed and clumsy.")
Tyudeongi was mentally prepared to see the large creature he'd seen in the fields break out of the shadows but what he saw instead was... *Bbyongming*?
Dirty, bruised, with blood staining his forehead and tears staining his cheeks. An old axe firmly in his wing.
**"TYU!! GET AWAY FROM THAT THING!!!"** The chicken shouted hysterically and Tyudeongi's heart stopped.
He turned to his right to look at Bbyongming who was holding his paw.

(text-style:"fidget")[ ]The light had bought them a little bit of time but there was one glaring problem...
Bbyongming who hadn't seen the basement from the inside before was investigating the hatch on its far wall that led to the outdoors directly. He rattled it carefully but found it locked from the outside.
They were trapped.
The creature stood between them and the truck and there was no other path to take.
If they wanted to make it out of here alive they needed a plan and a lifetime worth of good luck. Either way...
[["We can't stay here..." ->CabinEscapeU]]The light had clearly bought them time but Tyudeongi was sure that monster was going to find a way to turn the lights off before long. It was a hunter and this was its hunting ground.
At least, he thought, he'd barricaded the basement hatch from the inside earlier, meaning they could leave through there and it wasn't as easy to open from the outside. Small wins.
"What do we do?!" Ming breathed, visibly distressed.
"We take a deep breath... and then we make a *plan*," Tyudeongi said as he descended the stairs and finally joined Bbyongming.
"But first..." he left the sentence open as he opened his arms. Bbyongming's eyes became glassy when he realised what Tyudeongi wanted and he practically flew into his arms. They squeezed each other tightly.
"I almost lost you..." Tyudeongi whispered.
"Not on my watch!" Bbyongming tried so hard to sound tough but the tremble in his voice gave away just how scared he was.
Tyudeongi brought a little distance between them to get a good look at his friend. Poor thing. He looked like he'd been through so much.
"So... what do we do?"

(if: $tyulighter is 1 or $minglighter is 1)[[Kill the creature ->CabinKillRoute]]
"We kill the creature." Tyudeongi said.
"How?!" Bbyongming didn't look convinced. To be fair, Tyudeongi hadn't really thought about it in detail either. He just knew that they couldn't leave something like that alive to gobble up the next unassuming traveller.
They had an axe but judging by the size of the creature that wasn't going to do them any good in a fair fight.
He was racking his brain for an idea when the lights suddenly started flickering.
[[Shit ->CabinKillRoute2]]
"We can't stay here. We have to get out." Tyudeongi said, determined
"That thing is up there! How?!"
"Let's search the basement... see if there is anything we can use as a weapon. There's also the hatch..." he offered, pointing at the hatch to the outside which was locked from the inside with a sturdy steel pipe.
"Something useful? You mean like a gun?"
"I mean if you find one, you're welcome to give it a shot." Tyudeongi tried to joke but Ming just frowned at him so he followed it up with an apology, "Sorry... I meant more something like a flashlight."
Bbyongming looked at all the boxes with doubt written all over his face. Sure, their chances weren't terribly good but what else could they do?
Tyudeongi pulled the first box off the shelf with a small sigh and Ming joined him shortly after.
Box after box they checked but found nothing other than machine parts and junk. Seven boxes in Tyudeongi gave up with a sigh. "There's nothing here, Ming..."
"Yeah..." Bbyongming agreed solemnly and put the box he was holding back on the shelf.
Tyudeongi stood in silence for a while, thinking of their options. Once again his eyes caught on the basement hatch again.
[["Maybe..." ->CabinEscapeL2]]
"We can't stay here. We have to get out." Tyudeongi nodded towards the basement door and Bbyongming gave him a fearful look.
"That thing is up there! How?!"
"Let's search the basement... see if there is anything we can use," he offered, pointing at the many boxes and covered items of furniture.
"Something we can use... Like a gun?"
"I mean if you can find a gun we can give it a shot."
"Ha. Ha." Bbyongming didn't sound amused but he started going through the boxes anyway.
"I was thinking more something like a flashlight," Tyudeongi said while pulling a dust sheet off of one of the shelves.
"What are we gonna do with that?"
[[Explain ->CabinEscapeU2]]
"You're right. We got fuel and a lighter! We could start a fire. There's just one problem."
"What?" Bbyongming had perked up a little. Hope on his dusty face.
"There's no point in setting the cabin on fire unless we can trap the demon inside."
And just like that Bbyongming deflated again. How were they supposed to trap such a smart monster? Was it even possible?

"I have something we can use. Hang on."
He patted down his pockets for the little box of kiddie tattoos he'd found in the fireplace earlier that night. Little had he known then that his little fun discovery may save them only hours later.
"Here." He held the box in his paw. Bbyongming squinted at it but it was so dark in the cabin that he probably still couldn't tell what it was.
"They're temporary tattoos," Tyudeongi whispered, "I found them in the fireplace earlier. I'll pick one for you, you pick one for me... that way we'll be able to recognize each other."
He pulled Bbyongming out from under the desk and emptied the box of temp tattoos out on the work bench under the window. The faint sliver of moonlight making it in through the dusty glass was enough to at least make out the shapes on the 3 pieces of paper that fell out of the box.

Tyudeongi snuck up the narrow basement stairs and carefully cracked open the door. The ruckus outside was still ongoing. He heard the demon talk but couldn't make out the words. At least he was sure it wasn't in the cabin so he hurried his steps towards the door and grabbed the truck keys.

No time to lose.
Tyudeongi sprinted up the basement stairs and through the cabin. At the front door he remembered to grab the keys to the truck before he left. He was sure that the sound had come from the side of the house opposite the hatch so he hurried towards the shed.
Tyudeongi rounded the corner of the cabin so fast he nearly slipped and fell on the loose gravel ground. However, what awaited him was not at all what he'd expected.
Bbyongming stood his ground glaring at... another Bbyongming.
They both stood in front of the shed.
Tyudeongi swallowed hard. They were identical, staring each other down with the exact same expression. The same wounds. The same dirt. The same ruffled feathers. To make matters even more confusing they turned towards him at the exact same time.
"TYU! He's trying to trick you!" Both Bbyongmings shouted in perfect synchronisation.

"I'm gonna... leave such a bad review." Tyudeongi said. He was completely exhausted and a bit dizzy. The blood dyeing his shoulder red was still flowing albeit more slowly. He pressed one paw against it to stop the flow but his arm was getting tired.

(if: $BUnlocked is 1)[[[Get out of there NOW! ->ENDING 4: Unlocked]]](else-if: $BUnlocked is 0)[[[Get out of there NOW! ->ENDING 4: Locked]]]'Be brave!' He thought to himself, willing his weak knees to cooperate as he climbed out of the truck.
Quiet like a prowling cat he snuck across the gravel.
'Please don't hear me, please don't hear me... shit, where is Bbyongming... what do I do?' His thoughts were racing as he made his way to the door.
One more breath and he carefully pulled the door open. Just like when he arrived, he remarked the surprisingly quiet hinges. Earlier it'd just been a nice surprise, now he felt like he owed his life to whoever kept on top of oiling them.
The keys were exactly where he'd left them. Without hesitation, he grabbed them and turned around to head back to the car.
That was when a violent crashing noise made him freeze in his steps. There was banging, the unmistakable sound of splintering wood.
Then a shriek and a Bbyongming's startled cry.

[[I'm sorry ->Cont1]]Tyudeongi hurried into the kitchen to fetch a bottle of water and when he returned Bbyongming had pressed a cartoony skull and crossbones tattoo on his inner right wing.
"...you look like a gangster." Tyudeongi noted with whatever amusement he could muster, "There... all done."
(text-style:"fidget")["I'm hoping it'll make me feel less afraid..."] Ming confessed.
Tyudeongi actually cracked a smile and patted his cute friend's head.
"Let's get out of here you chicken."
Bbyongming took his paw instead of responding and Tyudeongi took the hint to grab the truck keys from the sideboard by the door, hoping and praying that they would make it to the truck without being found.

The pair of eyes that looked back at him were bulging and round, reflecting even the faint moonlight. Tyudeongi tore his paw out of the creature's grasp and stumbled backwards while Bbyongming, who was clearly scared out of his mind charged past him with the axe.
"LEAVE MY FRIEND ALONE!"
He swung.
And he missed.
The false Bbyongming had lept backwards with a cackle, exposing rows of uneven sharp teeth.
Before both their eyes the familiar shape of a little chicken began to grow and contort and Tyudeongi knew if they didn't run now, it'd be too late for them both so he grabbed his friend's wing and dragged him along.
Back into the cabin and into the basement where he used Ming's axe to barricade the door just in time before the heavy body of the hunter crashed into it.

"Shit. Light... light! Turn on the lights Ming!"
Bbyongming obeyed immediately and stumbled down the dark stairs blindly, patting the walls until he finally found the switch.
The light flickered to life.
It was bright.
Bbyongming looked at it like it was the most beautiful sunrise and even Tyudeongi felt relieved.
As though on command the banging against the door stopped the second the light turned on.
Ah... how could he have forgotten.
*The monster was afraid of light.*
(if: $BUnlocked is 1)[[Continue ->CabinBaseU]]
(if: $BUnlocked is 0)[[Continue ->CabinBaseL]]"Shit!" Tyudeongi exclaimed and frantically began looking around for anything they could use for light. A flashlight. Literally anything.
"The generator!" Bbyongming whispered and pointed at the rusty old thing, "It's hooked up to the light. Look."
Tyudeongi had had a hunch before but could it be that the original owner of this cabin had built it to withstand the nightly hunts? Was that the reason for the basement? (if: $WindowChecked is 1)(print: "The cans of gasoline in the shed?") And was that why the cabin now stood abandoned—he had failed?
"Let's try it." Tyudeongi said as the ceiling light blinked off and on a couple more times. Bbyongming hurried to the machine and inspected it briefly before he took hold of the pull string used to start it.
As much as the chicken was scared of his own shadow, he was surprisingly strong. Stronger than Tyudeongi, even if not by a lot.
And then... the lights went off.
[[Start the generator ->CabinKillRoute3]]
Darkness enveloped the basement but even though he was scared of the dark Bbyongming kept trying to start the generator.
4 strong pulls was all it took to get the old thing going. It rattled and huffed in protest but it came to life regardless—and with it the light. Although it was still flickering it was on.
"What if we just... wait out the night?" Bbyongming asked.
But Tyudeongi shook his head, "Look at how little fuel there is left in that thing... the lights will go out before the sun is up."
"Hm..." Bbyongming let himself sink to the dusty floor, seemingly no longer afraid of dirt and spiders—Tyudeongi couldn't blame him after the night they'd been having.
"Wait... the fuel... we could start a fire." Ming tilted his head up with a hopeful expression and Tyudeongi thought about it for a moment.

They huddled together right underneath the flickering ceiling lamp that was all separating them from certain death right now. As the generator continued to rumble away to protect them they formulated a plan.
6 Steps.
6 dangerous steps that relied on luck to not get them killed.
The plan was far from perfect but it was all they had.
[[Step 1 ->CabinLighter3]]
**Step 1: Sneak out to the shed to grab a fuel canister and hose**
This had sounded like a good idea at the time but when Tyudeongi pushed the hatch open he could feel his knees shaking. His eyes had to re-adjust to the darkness outside but there was no creature as far as he could see. It was most likely still inside the house. After all the basement hatch was usually locked from the outside, so chances were it thought them trapped.
On tip toes he snuck past the back of the cabin which had no windows.
A glance around the corner showed him that, here too, the air was clear. (if: $SUnlocked is 0)(print: "The shed door hung open, barely clinging to its hinges after Bbyongming had beaten it down with an axe.")
He slipped through the opening into the shed without touching the creaking door and grabbed a gas canister and hose from the shelf.
[[Step 2 ->CabinLighter4]]
**Step 2: Bring the fuel canister and hose to the safe basement**
'So far so good' he thought.
The hopeful thought hadn't even fully passed through his mind yet when he heard heavy paws falling onto gravel outside. Tyudeongi held his breath and peeked out of the gap in the door.
*Nothing*
He knew better than to assume that the noise had been a trick of his mind however. The hunter was patrolling. Circling them. Waiting for the moment the lights went out. To make things worse, judging by the creature's large ears it probably had excellent hearing. Tyudeongi cursed whoever decided to fill the entire area surrounding the cabin with gravel. How was he supposed to move quietly?
There was only one solution.
[[RUN! ->CabinLighter5]]
Tyudeongi said a quick prayer, made sure he was holding the gas canister and hose tightly and then he sprinted. As fast as his short legs could carry him he ran past the backside of the cabin.
Of course he was kicking up gravel and made a considerable amount of noise so it didn't come as a surprise when he heard the thumping of the beast on his heels. The creature's gangly limbs allowed it to take huge leaps and despite the headstart Tyudeongi had gotten he could hear it catching up to him.
The delighted, distorted cackle behind him made him run just a little faster.
He skidded around the corner and just about threw himself into the open hatch.
The creature stopped just outside the hatch, a violent shriek leaving its foaming flews. Its sensitive eyes were squeezed shut to escape the light but that alone didn't seem to be enough. After a few more seconds of angry struggle the creature gave up and returned to the darkness. For now.
"CLOSE IT, CLOSE IT!" Bbyongming urged him on and Tyudeongi didn't need to be told twice. He pulled the hatch shut and barricaded it from the inside again.
*Safe.*
[[Continue ->CabinLighter6]]
**Step 3: Syphon the fuel into the canister and lure the creature out of the cabin.**
"I... I think it's already outside of the cabin." Bbyongming noted, clearly still shaken from what had just happened.
"Yeah?" Tyudeongi huffed. He was completely out of breath. "What gave it away?"
"I can't believe you're cracking jokes like you didn't just almost die." Bbyongming scolded him but he still couldn't hide a small, amused smile.
"I'm serious," Ming added, "This plan is insane. You're gonna get yourself killed, Tyu."
"I won't. I'll be okay. Just focus on doing your part. Just uh... 5 minutes to catch my breath." He grinned at his friend who didn't look convinced.
Neither of them had a way of telling the time and so neither of them were sure how long five minutes were. Maybe the time it took for Tyudeongi to catch his breath was 15 minutes. Or maybe he'd lost his patience after 2 minutes before he got back to his paws.
[["Let's get it over with, Ming." ->CabinLighter7]]
After a moment of hesitation Bbyongming nodded. It was clear he didn't want to push that stop button on the old generator but there was no other way. After one more deep breath he finally pushed it.
The ceiling light didn't even give them a grace period before it went out. It just went immediately. Tyudeongi opened the hatch to allow the moonlight in. (if: $tyulighter is 1)(print: "Tyudeongi fished the lighter out of his pocket and handed it to Bbyongming with a nod. This was it.")
"See you on the other side, chicken." He whispered and Bbyongming gave him a nod.
"If you die, I'll kill you!" He whispered back and Tyudeongi cracked a smile even though it was too dark to be seen. He climbed out of the hatch and waited, ears sharp for any sound. Behind his back he could hear Bbyongming rummaging around with the generator and hissing quietly at how hot the fuel inside of it was.
Finally there was the sound of the canister's cap being screwed on.
"Done." Bbyongming whispered.
[[Continue ->CabinLighter8]]
Tyudeongi waited until Ming was at the foot of the stairs before he took a deep breath.
**"COME AND GET ME, YOU BIG UGLY FOX!"** He shouted at the top of his lungs. Something about finally making a lot of noise was freeing. At the same time he hoped his legs wouldn't fail him when the creature came for him.
For a long, terrifying, moment there was nothing. No sound other than his own breathing and the rush of blood in his ears. His mind was racing. What if the creature had figured out their plan? What if it was waiting for Bbyongming and wasn't going to let itself be lured outside?
But then he heard it.
Slow, heavy steps against the gravel from the direction of the front side of the cabin.
(text-style:"italic","blur","fidget")["Fun... fun... fun..."] the fox demon cooed in its many, layered voices.
"I'm glad *you're* having fun," Tyudeongi countered, unsure where the sudden bravery came from. Then again maybe this was the key. Maybe the hunter was up for a chat like any old movie villain.
(text-style:"italic","blur","fidget")["Kekeke~ I will remember your pathetic resistance... when I wear your skin."]
[[Taunt it more ->CabinLighter9]]
Tyudeongi shuddered. The creature was taking its time to walk towards him as though it was testing how close it could get before Tyudeongi would inevitably panic and run. It was waiting, like a runner waited for the pistol shot to start the race.
"Sorry... You can't have my skin, I'm still using it."
The creature let out a screeching cackle in response to his newfound sass.
One more step. Tyudeongi was now in reach of the creature's long arms. He couldn't wait any longer. The demon noticed the shift in tension and its grotesque, toothy grin got wider, saliva dripping from the gaps between its uneven teeth.
Tyudeongi waited one more second before he finally moved. He leapt back into the basement, a move the creature had expected judging by how it was hot on his heels immediately.
**"MING NOW!"** He shouted before running up the narrow basement stairs. The creature had some trouble fitting into the narrow stairwell which bought Tyudeongi just enough time to pull open the door and slam it shut again. The lock fell shut just before the creature crashed into the door. It was a surprisingly heavy door, Tyudeongi noticed. More fuel for his theory that the basement was built to weather the nightly hunts.
Just as he wanted to take a breather he noticed the heat licking up against his back.
[[Oh, right. The fire ->CabinLighter10]]

"I locked the hatch!" He shouted and as if on cue there was an angry screech from inside the basement and violent banging against the door. Tyudeongi had briefly considered testing if the Bbyongming before him was the right one but hearing the demon's cries out of the basement he didn't need to anymore.
"The keys?"
"Got 'em!" Bbyongming held the keys up triumphantly and together they hurried into the truck.

Tyudeongi followed the generator's cable that led to a splitter on the wall. Some cables were going up in the the ceiling so there was a good chance that the upstairs was also powered by the old thing.
Maybe it was their only shot.
"Let's try... no, let's *do* it." He decided. There was no 'trying' in their situation. Bbyongming didn't nod right away. It was clear as day how scared he was so Tyudeongi streched out both of his paws towards his friend.
"Come on, chicken."
Bbyongming hesitantly took his paws and let himself be pulled to his feet.
"Are you sure we can't wait out the night?"
"I'm sure. Just stick close to me okay?"

"It might be our only option..." Tyudeongi didn't like it. What if the generator only powered some of them? What if they weren't bright enough? So many what-if's crossed his mind but at the end of the day it was just as he said.
It was their only option now. There were no flashlights, Ming's phone was still somewhere in the fields, Tyudeongi's was out of juice and the basement hatch was locked from the outside.
"Tyu..." Bbyongming spoke up. He looked anxious.
"Are we going to make it?"
Tyudeongi straightened his back right away, "Of course! I'll protect you, chicken! We're getting out of here together!"
Bbyongming nodded, clearly doing his best to believe Tyudeongi's words.

Wing in paw they snuck up the narrow stairs. Tyudeongi pressed his ear against the door while Ming held his breath.
He heard his own blood rushing in his ears and the steady buzz of electricity but nothing else. Whatever the creature was doing it was dead quiet doing it. Tyudeongi half expected to come face to face with the creature the second he pulled open the door but to his great relief he was met with an empty, dark hallway instead.
It took a moment for his eyes to readjust to the dark. The light switches were all further down the hallway. Even just one step would mean for them to leave the faint light shining up from the basement and they both hesitated.
[[Run for the light switch ->CabinEscapeU6_1]]
[[Run for the door ->CabinEscapeU6_2]]
Tyudeongi let go of Bbyongming's wing and made a run for it. He cringed at the sound of his paws thumping against the wooden floor but at least it only took a second for him to slap his hand against the light switch.
*Nothing.*
In a panic he flipped the switch a couple more times but the hallway lights remained dark.
(text-style:"shudder")[**"TYU!!!**]
Tyudeongi spun around at Bbyongming's scream and found two large eyes staring back at him from the darkness. The demon was so large it barely fit into the hallway. Its gangly limbs and wide shoulders were bent to accommodate. In one of its claws it held Bbyongming who was struggling and pecking at the leathery fingers.
[["LET GO OF HIM!" ->CabinEscapeU7]]
'Screw the lightswitches,' Tyudeongi thought and grabbed Ming's wing a little more tightly. The hallway was clear. They could just make a run for it. Why waste time?
Thought and done. He started running for the door that stood wide open again. He had half a mind to grab the keys from the sideboard on the way out. He didn't give a shit where that creature was. The car was right in front of him.
Only a few more steps.
He felt a harsh tug on his arm and Bbyongming's feathers slipped out of his grasp.
**"MING!"** Tyudeongi spun around right away.

The creature cackled, completely unimpressed by the small retriever shouting at it. When it took a step towards him Tyudeongi could only take a step back and it cackled louder.
(text-style:"italic","blur","fidget")["Poor thing... so pathetic... so weak."] The creature spoke with all its distorted voices, squeezing the poor bird in its claw.
Tyudeongi stumbled backwards towards the open front door, frantically trying to think if there was anything he could do. His paw touched the next light switch. This one belonged to the lounge.
*Nothing.*
There was only one left. Only one light switch in his path to the door—the kitchen. He prayed to God or anyone that may hear him that this one worked. That, for some reason, the generator powered the kitchen.
Meanwhile the demon was happily taking its time cornering him. It was all a game. Sport. Fun. To watch him struggle and despair. The creature's hunt had nothing to do with survival. It was all just entertainment.
[[Turn the lights on ->CabinEscapeU8]]
He hit the kitchen's light switch with a mix of frustration and desperation. And for a moment he was convinced it would end like with the other two switches.
But then the light flickered.
The creature took a step back at the first flicker.
And then, with a strained buzz, the light came on. It was clearly unstable, varying in brightness and flickering occasionally, but its warm light bathed the kitchen and hallway regardless and that was all that mattered.
The fox let out an angry scream, dropping Bbyongming to cover its large sensitive eyes.
"MING!"
Tyudeong had half a mind to grab the car keys from the counter by the front door before he pulled his crying friend to his feet and dragged him outside. Ming was coughing and stumbling but somehow they still made it to the car. The angry wailing of the demon in their backs.
[[Step on it! ->ENDING 2: Freedom]] The demon moved so fast that he could barely grasp which direction it went into before it was gone. His heart was racing. He had to free Bbyongming somehow.
There had to be something he could do.
Anything.

[[Run after them ->CabinEscapeU11]]
No time to lose. Tyudeongi rounded the corner of the cabin so fast he nearly slipped and fell on the loose gravel ground. However when he turned the corner what awaited him was not at all what he'd expected.
Bbyongming stood his ground glaring at... Bbyongming.
Tyudeongi's eyes fell on the hatch behind the two Bbyongmings and suddenly he had an idea.

Tyudeongi knew, without any kind of leverage he had no chance in a 1:1 confrontation with the hunter. He scrambled into the truck and almost dropped the keys when he tried to shove them into the ignition. Still he was confident he'd never started the car this fast before. The headlights came on and he stepped on the gas.
The engine roared as he rounded the corner of the cabin.
The fox was at the edge of the fields, eyes reflecting the headlights for only a split second before it howled and escaped into the wall of wheat.
Tyudeongi didn't take his foot off the gas, chasing the beast into the field.
It was taller than the plants so it wasn't hard to follow now that he, too, was elevated above his usual height.
[[Chase it down ->CabinEscapeU10_1]]No matter how the truck's engine cried or how much the rocky field was throwing him around in his seat he didn't take his foot off the gas, keeping the demons's speed. That was until he could finally see the temple's outline on the horizon.
The wheat parted and both the truck and the creature broke out into the meadow. Something told Tyudeongi that he couldn't allow the fox to take his chicken to its den inside the temple. That all would be lost the second they crossed the derelict gates.
In a last ditch effort he slammed one paw into the horn while trying to keep the truck steady with the other.
The sound caused the creature to stumble. It dropped Bbyongming in an effort to cover its large ears with a pained howl. The poor chicken was sent rolling on the ground while Tyudeongi stepped into the brakes.
His heart stopped as he watched the feathered body disappear underneath the truck that was screeching to a halt much too slowly.
And then he crashed into something hard.
At the force of the impact his whole body was lifted out of the driver's seat and all he could do was raise his arms in front of his face and brace for impact.
[[ . . . . . ->SECRET ENDING]]Tyudeongi woke up to the warmth of the autumn sun against his ruffled, dirty fur. His ears were ringing to the point where he couldn't really hear anything and he was so dizzy he feared he may just fall off the edge of the world if he didn't hold onto the ground.
Memories of the chase came back to him. Then the car crash.
**Bbyongming!**
Despite his pounding head he managed to sit up and open his eyes. Before him was the truck with a smoking engine and horrible dent. There was blood smeared all the way across the hood and up to the shattered windshield. The creature's motionless body was draped up against it like some particularly gnarly roadkill. Thin fur swaying in the breeze almost peacefully while its blood was saturating the dirt of the holy temple grounds.
Tyudeongi fought to get to his feet. Every bone in his body hurt but he had to find Bbyongming. He vividly remembered the chicken getting under the wheels of his truck as he was trying to brake.
With tears in his eyes, fighting the oncoming panic over what he may have done he forced himself to walk. One paw in front of the other until he was past the truck.
There were deep grooves of dirt in the field painting the path of his attempt at braking. And just a little away from the edge of the field there was a yellow lump on the ground perfectly centered in between the tyre grooves.
"MING?!" He shouted, although his ribs and lungs both screamed in protest at the exertion.
(text-colour:white)[[[. . . . . ->SECRET ENDING 2]]]For a terrible second there was complete silence.
And then, slowly, and accompanied by a pained groan Bbyongming struggled to his feet as well.
Tyudeongi couldn't help the dry sob that left his mouth as relief washed over him.
"MING!!" The pain was forgotten. He ran as quickly as his battered body would let him and Bbyongming, who also looked like he was on the verge of tears opened his wings to catch him.
They hugged each other tightly and sank back to the ground together, unable to stand on their aching legs for even one more second. Tyudeongi was crying his heart out in Bbyongming's wings while Bbyongming patted his back absentmindedly.
"I'm never... letting you plan our vacation again." Bbyongming said softly and Tyudeongi only sobbed louder.

Now the Bbyongmings were exactly between him and the hatch. He would choose, and lock the impostor into the basement to buy them enough time to escape. Both Bbyongming's seemed to have caught on to his plan and were looking equally anxious.
"Don't do this Tyu... Can't you tell that i'm the real Ming!" The left one pleaded while the right one remained silent.
"Show me your right wing, both of you," Tyudeongi said and while the right Bbyongming stretched out his wing right away the left one hesitated.
The right Bbyongming's arm was nothing but beautiful yellow feathers along with some scrapes and dirt.

[[Continue ->LeadupE2]]"Maybe..." he started, "maybe we can outsmart it?"
"It outsmarted us twice how are we going to do that?" Bbyongming was sceptical.
"Well... how about this." Tyudeongi grabbed some paper and a pen from one of the many boxes he'd been digging through and sat on the ground to write the steps of the plan down.
"Why are you writing it down?"
"Have you seen the ears on that thing?" Tyudeongi asked and Bbyongming's beak formed a soundless 'O' before he sat down by Tyu's side and looked at the paper.
[[Step 1 ->CabinEscapeL3]]
Tyudeongi pulled the metal pipe out from the handles of the basement hatch before carefully opening one of the hatch doors and sticking just his nose outside.
He closed his eyes and focused past the scents of metal, wheat and gravel to pick out anything that stood out. Blood. Skin. The demon's foul breath. Anything. After a good minute he ducked back into the basement and gave Bbyongming, who looked like he was ready to faint from fear, a thumbs up.
*The air is clear.*
Together they pushed the hatch open fully.
Tyudeongi hugged Bbyongming tightly before giving him a 'good luck' gesture. Bbyongming took a shaky breath and nodded before climbing outside the hatch, doing his best to make no noise on the gravel.
[[Step 2 ->CabinEscapeL4]]
Tyudeongi felt ill with worry but he had to stick to the plan if he wanted this to work. Determined he grabbed the steel pipe and climbed the stairs to the door into the house. He pulled it open without hesitation and started banging the pipe against the metal banister of the narrow staircase.
"HEY YOU BIG, UGLY BASTARD!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, and not even a second later he heard an agitated howl from the utility room. So that's where the demon had been laying in wait for them.
It broke down the door, long arms swinging uncontrolled, swatting at anything in its path while it simultaneously tried to cover its large ears.
Sensitive to light, and to sound.
'Sucks to be you,' Tyudeongi thought. The creature's head swivelled towards him, foam and saliva dripping from its bared fangs. One thing was clear. Tyudeongi had succeeded at pissing it off.
[[Step 3 ->CabinEscapeL5]]
There was a pause in the creature's movement as its eyes zeroed in on Tyudeongi and Tyudeongi knew now was the time to run. He turned, pipe firmly in his paw, and jumped down as many steps at once as he could without breaking his ankles. The creature's claws grazed his shoulder, tearing into fur and flesh but Tyudeongi kept going.
The monster was on his heels, thundering through the narrow door and taking its frame along. The staircase was so narrow that the fox had a hard time keeping its eyes shielded from the light while following him down. The railing was bent out of shape as it pressed past.
Tyudeongi used that moment of struggle to climb through the hatch. He waited. Just one more second. Just one more. With a bone chilling shriek the fox broke free from the staircase and with one powerful sweep of its long arm it took out the light on the basement's ceiling.
That was his cue to slam the hatch doors shut and jam the pipe into its handles.
[[It's now or never ->CabinEscapeL6]]
Tyudeongi ran towards the front of the cabin as the creature bodyslammed into the hatch. Bbyongming was already in the truck dangling the keys in the air to show that they were ready to leave. Tyudeongi didn't need any more of an invitation.
He just about threw himself into the truck, pressing a paw against his bleeding shoulder, as Bbyongming shoved the keys into the ignition and stepped on the gas.
Behind them the creature broke free from the basement screeching with rage.

"How many new books did we get into stock last year!"
"Uhh...50... 54? 56?... 54 books and 3 posters." Tyudeongi counted in his head, suddenly very unsure of the numbers but Bbyongming before him seemed to relax. He placed the axe on the ground and fell into his arms with a relieved sigh.
"Thank God it's you!" He whispered.
"Have you been in here the whole time?" Tyudeongi wrapped his arms around Bbyongming tightly and stroked his back.
"I was asleep in bed... and then uhm.. you knocked on the window from the outside. At least I thought it was you. But when I came outside to complain about being woken up you... were *different*. Like something was just... wrong. It was so subtle I could barely tell. Something in the way your voice sounded. You tried to show me something... and then I got knocked over the head and woke up in here."
[[Continue ->HideShed3]]
Tyudeongi listened to the whole story and thought back to what he had encountered in the fields. Being stalked through the maze. The creature mimicking Bbyongming's voice at the temple ruins.
"It's playing with us..." he whispered and brought some distance between them so he could look at Ming.
"How do we know it's really the real you and me..." Ming sounded troubled. Tyudeongi opened his mouth to try and offer a solution when suddenly, there was noise outside the shed and both of them startled.
It wasn't loud but they could both hear the crunching of gravel just outside the shed, coming closer with each careful step.
Tyudeongi wasted no time and dragged Ming underneath the work bench which was shoved against the wall just underneath the window. There was just enough time for them to squeeze behind a crate of tools before they heard heavy breath falling against the window pane. Bbyongming covered his beak with both wings, eyes squeezed shut in fear.
[[Stay still ->HideShed4]]
The creature circled the shed and Tyudeongi pulled Bbyongming closer to himself behind the crate, praying it wouldn't come inside. It just seemed that on this night his prayers fell on deaf ears and so he too closed his eyes in fear when the door was pushed open.
One heavy paw fell onto the dusty shed floor, then another. The creature didn't fit any further into the shed without struggle. It stood there for a while. Breathing heavily. And then it backed up out of the shed and walked away.
Bbyongming let out the breath he'd been holding and Tyudeongi looked down at him. His eyes were more used to the dark now and he could actually make out his friend's features.
"I guess... that means you're the real Tyu." he whispered.
"We're both real."

No matter how scared he was, he had to do it. Fortunately Ming was well aware of this so eventually he worked up the courage to sneak out of the shed.
Tyudeongi grabbed the axe and followed suit. Except while Ming walked past the back of the house Tyudeongi walked towards the front of it, even if only a little. Next to a waste pipe he finally stopped and waited, counting to 30 in his head.

Tyudeongi lifted the axe and smacked it against the pipe with as much force as he could. Then again. And again.

Despite the ruckus he was actually surprised when the demon took the obvious bait and came racing around the corner, shrieking angrily. But then he realised... it was covering its large ears with both hands, visibly in pain.
Sensitive eyes and sensitive ears, lucky for them.
"YEAH THAT'S RIGHT! COME AND GET ME!" Tyudeongi banged the axe against the pipe once more before he dropped it and started running. Tyudeongi tried so hard to brake his sprint that he fell and rolled a few feet. The creature's large paw was there to finally bring him to a halt and pressed him into the ground with crushing force.
"AGHhh!" Tyudeongi felt the air being forced out of his lungs and his ribcage was groaning under the weight.
"TYUDEONGI!" Ming's voice sounded fromthe direction of the truck and Tyu wanted to shout for him to runaway. To leave him behind. To save himself. But he couldn't make a sound.
To his surprise the claw pressing him down vanished.
He watched Ming race around the corner, armed with nothing but a wooden broom from the cabin's veranda.

Bbyongming looked around and finally pointed at the basement hatch not far from both Tyudeongies, "That... open it."
Tyudeongi glared at the mimick before he scrambled to his feet and hurried to unlock the hatch just as Ming had asked. The demon was acting offended and tried to get in his way to unlock it himself. In the end, and after a small scuffle they somehow ended up opening the hatch up together.
"Now..." Both Tyudeongies turned around to face Ming who had come closer, "Tell me what's on your right arm," he demanded.

They ran for their lives, wing in paw. Even the cool night time air was burning in their lungs by the time they reached the truck. Tyudeongi shoved the keys into the ignition and just as he turned it the door of the cabin burst open.
On instinct he slammed in the reverse gear and turned the car around to face the creature, headlights flaring up.
Tyudeongi's heart was beating in his throat as he turned the truck around and put his paw down on the gas until it could go no further.
The truck howled at the abuse but obeyed regardless. Bbyongming was holding onto the door for dear life.

"MING NO!" He shouted after the two of them as they ran towards the truck.
*Shit*
He struggled back to his feet despite his head and body aching. When he finally rounded the corner to the front of the cabin he already heard the engine rumbling.
A moment later he was bathed in the back lights of the truck and Tyudeongi feared he was too late.

[[Continue ->ShedE9Leadup]]With a sickly feeling in his stomach he waited for Ming to conjure up both his courage and his strength to make his choice He kept wanting to check his arm. Wanted to confirm that he'd remembered correctly. It was possibly the most stressful five seconds in Tyudeongi's entire life.
But finally Ming decided.
The impostor took a rough tumble to gravel ground and Bbyongming grabbed him by the paw, giving him a determined nod, "RUN!"
He didn't need to be told twice. Together they sprinted towards the front of the cabin.

The enraged beast was hot on his heels swiping its claws through the air in a chaotic attempt to catch him. Tyudeongi felt the claws graze his back as he rounded the corner but he couldn't stop. Tyudeongi tried so hard to brake his sprint that he fell and rolled a few feet. The creature's large paw was there to finally bring him to a halt and pressed him into the ground with crushing force.

That bastard was *still* playing with them.

"He's lying Ming!!! Don't fall for it!" He realised how useless his words were. How unconvincing. What were they going to do?! What was *Ming* going to do?
Bbyongming looked around and finally pointed at the basement hatch not far from both Tyudeongies, "That... open it."
Tyudeongi glared at the mimick before he scrambled to his feet and hurried to unlock the hatch just as Ming had asked. The demon was acting offended and tried to get in his way to unlock it himself. In the end, and after a small scuffle they somehow ended up opening the hatch up together.
"Now..." Both Tyudeongies turned around to face Ming who had come closer, "Tell me what day... is the store having its next writing event?"

[[View all possible endings ->Tutorial2]]Tyudeongi didn't know when exactly he had drifted off to sleep but he knew for a fact that it was nightmares that startled him awake. He jumped up in his seat with a gasp and looked around frantically.
The driver's cabin was bathed in light but Bbyongming was nowhere to be seen. Tyudeongi undid his seat belt and nearly fell out of the truck with how much he hurried down the single step.
"MING?!" He shouted while blinking against the light. The sound of a car driving past behind his back finally shook him out of the immediate panic and made him take in his surroundings.
The pick up truck was parked up in a lay-by of the highway. The street behind him was full of cars and trucks.
"Tyu!" Bbyongming's voice made him turn around again.
[[Continue ->E1_3]]The chicken sat at a wooden table, waving at him with a smile. That was also when Tyudeongi noticed that they were on a cliff. Behind Bbyongming there was the most gorgeous view of the ocean, sparkling yellow pink and blue in the light of the sunrise.
Even if he'd wanted to stop the tears from falling, he just couldn't. With a small sob he ran towards Ming who smiled wider and opened his wings to welcome him.
They hugged each other tightly.
"Why are you crying... we made it didn't we?" Ming scoleded him softly but Tyudeongi shook his head and only hugged him tighter.
"I... I don't think I could go on... if anything happened to you!"
"... I know. I feel the same." Ming was rubbing soothing circles against his back for a while before he took hold of Tyu's shoulders and moved him away just a little.
(text-colour:white)[[[It's now or never ->E1_4]]]Tyudeongi felt like this was the moment. It was now or never. For years and years he'd kept the feelings for his childhood friend a secret. For years he told himself 'One day... when the time is right.'
His friends had scoleded him again and again. 'The right time never comes!' But Tyudeongi was too afraid of ruining a friendship that meant the world to him.
Now he knew... his friends were wrong.
The right moment //did// come, and it was right now.
"Ming... I really don't... I don't want to live without you. I'm sorry it took almost losing you to work up the courage... but I-"
He was rudely interrupted by Bbyongming pecking his cheek.
"Buy me dinner first..."
"Oh. Huh? I... okay." Tyudeongi looked at his friend(?) completely dumbfounded, touching his cheek. Apparently the moment lasted so long that Bbyongming couldn't help but laugh at him. A laugh so contagious that Tyudeongi just had to join in as well.

[[Continue ->E4L2]]It was then that clarity settled in his chaotic mind. Ming... He'd pushed the real Bbyongming down the steps into the basement. He was still down here. All alone.
He rushed down the steps, nearly falling over his own paws and, sure enough, just at the foot of the concrete steps leading up to the hatch there was Ming. He was motionless on the ground, dirty and bleeding.
Tyudeongi rushed to his side, "MING!"
He fell to his knees and cradled his friend, tears stinging in his eyes. Bbyongming was breathing but there was a sizeable cut on his forehead that had dyed one half of his face an unpleasant red.
"Ming... Ming I'm so sorry. I'm an idiot. It's all my fault... please wake up... we have to get out... we have to-"
He paused when he heard the sound of wood scraping over metal from just above his head.
[[The hatch! ->E4U3]]He didn't get the time to react before the hatch was opened and he found himself, once more, face to face with the hunter. A triumphant, ugly grin was plastered on its face as it tossed the panel of wood aside like a used toothpick.
(text-style:"fidget","blur","italic",)["Oh... poor... little... things...,"] it cooed in its many voices as it took the first step down into the basement.
Tyudeongi was petrified, clinging to the unconscious chicken in his arms. He knew, deep down, that this was the end and yet his mind didn't want to stop searching for a way out.

[[But there was nothing he could do ->E4U4]]Like a petrified fawn, Tyudeongi was only able to sit still and let himself be grabbed. And then...
[[Darkness ->The Den]]He didn't expect to wake up again. In fact, when he did it was only the pain in his bones that convinced him that he wasn't already dead and that this was the afterlife.
He patted around in the dark until he felt a bundle of feathers.
"Ming..." his voice was little more than a breath and even then his ribs and lungs protested it. There was no response and it was so dark that, even after a while of getting used to it he still couldn't see anything.
By that point he also noticed the foul stench of death surrounding him... and that the floor was sticky and soft. He was fairly sure that he could feel blood and bones. Discarded pieces of skin of various creatures.
It slowly dawned on him where he was.
This was the creature's den.
"Ming..." he whispered once more and shook his friend gently. Ming didn't budge so Tyudeongi just pulled him into his arms again. He felt his friend's shallow breath.
He held him tightly even when he heard the shuffling of the creature at the other end of the room. And he still held him tightly when he heard the paws of more creatures than one. Smaller ones. The knocking grew more frantic and Tyudeongi actually took a few steps towards the hatch, that was locked with a steel pipe from the inside. He could hear the creatures heavy steps as the knocking and pleading intensified.
